Inspection and Testing Center for Ecological and Environmental Risk Assessment of Plant and Plant-Related Microorganism (Guangzhou), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs is authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and passes the qualification accreditation of the National Laboratory. It is a certificated organization provides  notarization, supervision and examination of transgenic plants (product) quality. It is also a non-profit service and technology oriented institution which works independently under the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and South China Agricultural University.

The Center has established a relatively complete set of rules and regulations, an effective quality control system and a sound working system committing to the principles of scientificalness, impartiality, and authoritativeness. The Center has a Bsiness Department, a Transgenic Component Detection Lab , and an Environmental Safety Testing Lab. There are 12 staff members including 6 doctoral candidates, 7 senior professionals, and 2 intermediate professionals with research subjects covering molecular biology, botany, genetics, phytopathology, entomology, weed science. and other related fields. It has a team with a good personnel structure, multidisciplinary research background and years of experience in scientific research and testing. The conditions above satisfy the need for the detection of and inspection of transgenic plants (product).

The Center is able to detect transgenic plants, the components of their products, and the environmental safety. It has undertaken thousands of batches of samples entrusted by the province's internal or external administrative departments as well as companies. Meanwhile, it has actively cooperated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in the supervision of transgenic crops and undertook a number of supervision and inspection tasks on the purpose of strengthening the supervision of genetically modified organisms.

In terms of scientific research, the Center undertook the national major transgenic project On Establishing the Environmental Safety Evaluation System for the New Phosphorus-Efficient Utilization of Transgenic Soybeans , On Monitoring the Environmental Impact of BT Rice in South China, On Transgenic Agricultural Product Safety Inspection Technology a major science and technology project at provincial level, On Establishing Standard of Inspecting Papaya's Transgenic Components by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and other scientific research tasks.  

In addition, the Center assists the Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs to supervise and guide GMO processing enterprises, and provides substantive opinions and suggestions for the GMO processing licenses issued by the GMO Safety Office of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.The center gave classes such as the agricultural genetically modified organisms safety management training course, guangdong province reform and construction of basic-level agro-technique extension demonstration county agricultural technology personnel training course, and any other courses hold by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and popularizing knowledge of genetically modified technology and its current situation and development, as well as the genetically modified organisms safety management consciousness.

Combining supervision with service, the Center has gradually built quality evaluation center, technical consulting service Center, market commodity information center and talent training center of transgenic plants (products). In the spirit of being highly responsible to the society, we will provide our customers with scientific, fair and accurate inspection reports to safeguard the interests of the country, producers and consumers.
